Studio

Pros:
-         Able to use it all day as it is booked and not in use
-         Can be designed to exactly how we want the set to look
-         Indoors therefore no weather problems
-         Equipment (camera, tripod etc.) is stored within the studio storeroom therefore it doesn’t take long to set up and put away as its on location and doesn’t need to be moved anywhere
-         No interruptions by other students as there is no one in the studio except our group
-         We can change lighting to how we want it
-         Props & set design can all be left on location as room can be locked so no one else can enter
Cons:
-         Creating the set ourselves may effect the realism outcome
-         The studio isn’t sound proof therefore if there are people making noise outside the camera will pick up the sound which means we wil be unable to film during break and lunch times and during lesson changes

Quad – Outside

Pros:
-         It is outside which adds effect to the scene as it may appear more mysterious
-         The setting is already there for us to use therefore doesn’t need to be made by us

Cons:
-         Weather may change which will affect filming on day
-         It is a shortcut to get to certain places therefore will constantly have people walking through it
-         It is in the middle of classrooms therefore may attract unwanted attention by others which can affect filming as it may get in the way or distract us
-         Even if weather if fine, it may be windy. This means the camera may pick up the sound of the wind.
-         Is usually busy during break times, lunch times, and in between lesson changes which means time needs to be taken out of filming
-         Props and equipment are not on location therefore carrying them to and from location causes a risk in case of any damages
-         If the weather begins to change the equipment may get damaged
-         Lighting cannot be changed
-         It gets dark early which means all filming that takes place outside needs to happen before it gets dark which puts pressure on us as we have shorter time to complete it all.

Classroom

Pros:

-         Set is already there for us to use therefore does not need to be produced
-         Indoors therefore no problems with weather
-         Props ONLY can be left on location
-         Has curtains which means no one will be able to see what is taking place which means no distractions.

Cons:
-         Quite obvious that it is a classroom which breaks realism if we ere to portray it as something else
-         May be in use at certain times throughout the day which means we will be unable to film for the entire day
-         It is in an area where people pass by a lot during break times, lunch times and during lesson changes. Therefore filming cannot take place through entire day.
-         Equipment cannot be left on location as others may need to be in the classroom. This means a risk when carrying equipment to and from location and also takes more time.
-         Lighting cannot be changed

Corridors

Pros:

-         Setting is already set for us and therefore does not need to be produced by us from scratch
-         It is indoors which means no weather problems

Cons:
-         It is in an area where people pass by a lot during break times, lunch times and during lesson changes. Therefore filming cannot take place through entire day.
-         Equipment or props cannot be left on location therefore need to be carried to and from location which poses a risk of damaging equipment and also takes longer time
-         Lighting cannot be changed
-         May be in use at certain times throughout the day which means we will be unable to film for the entire day.

Treatment for Opening Sequence [DRAFT]

The story starts with the main character Nicholas tied up and unconscious in a room, inside a deserted building. The room has newspaper clippings and pictures on the walls; the room also has some of Nicolas’s possessions on the floor. His Girlfriend’s Dad, Jonathan, enters the room, and Nicholas wakes up, Jonathan then starts to explain why he has brought Nicholas here and that he is going to pay for what he has done. He pulls up Nicholas and pushes him onto the chair and then removes the tape from his mouth. Jonathan then circles Nicholas and Nicholas then asks what is happening and why is he here. Jonathan then questions him and asks Nicholas if he can remember anything. Then Jonathan Starts to explain what has happened.

FLASHBACK

The story then flashes back to when Sarah and Nicholas first met which was when Sarah was out with her friends shopping and she caught eye of Nicholas standing next his brand new BMW X5. He then walks over to her and they get talking and exchange numbers.
The story then fast forwards to Nicholas meeting Sarah’s parents and they get along very well. However Jonathan Pulls Nicholas aside away from the mother and Sarah and threatens him that if he ever hurts his little girl he will kill him. Nicholas took that as a joke.

FLASHES BACK TO START

Father then asks Nicholas if he remembers their conversation and Nicholas says he can’t remember things so quickly, and that things are just starting to coming back to him but they are still a bit fuzzy.

FLASHBACK

Sarah is on stage in a bar performing a song, it is clear she is singing directly to Nicholas who is in the audience. He really admires her voice, this is evident when we he exaggerates his applause at the end of the song. After the song Nicholas drives them to the hill on the outskirts of the city. The sight is a beautiful breathtaking view of the entire city. Nicholas tells Sarah how one day they will get married and then gives her a bracelet, they then kiss and the scene ends.

FLASHBACK OF START

Nicholas tries to explain to the father how much he loved her and he always had time for her, Jonathan mentioned how he was happy when Sarah told him how Nicholas said they will get married..

FLASHBACK

Relationship continues and we see Sarah calling up Nicholas reminding him of their 4 month anniversary. Nicholas replies by saying that he can’t make it as he has some business to attend to. The next thing you see is Nicholas putting down the phone while he is half naked in bed next to another girl.
A couple of days later Sarah is telling her mum that she is pregnant and that she is planning to tell Nicholas later that day.
Later that day in Nicholas’s car, Sarah finds a pair of knickers that do not belong to her and she confronts Nicholas. They argue; Nicholas says that he doesn’t want to be with her anymore and she blurts out that he can’t leave her because she is pregnant and is keeping the baby. Nicholas starts to get aggressive and angry, and tells Sarah he doesn’t want to be a dad and that if she doesn’t get rid of the baby he would do it for her. She disagrees. He pulls over the car, Sarah gets out of the car and runs but Nicholas follows her, grabs her and throws her to the floor, she tries to escape by repeatedly slapping and kicking him, but Nicholas continues to beat and abuse her. He stops the assault when he notices blood leaking from her trousers. Nicholas leaves her unconscious on the floor and jumps back in his car…

FLASHBACK

Nicholas and Sarah have just finished having sex and Sarah expresses how much she loves him, Nicholas replies by saying how he will always take care of her no matter what.

FLASHBACK TO ABUSE SCENE

After reminiscing in his car, Nicholas feels ashamed of his actions but instead of taking her to the hospital, he calls the paramedics anonymously and reports an injured woman lying on the floor, he then drives off into the distance.

FLASHBACK TO HOSPITAL SCENE

Sarah is well overdue for her baby to arrive so she goes to the hospital to find out why she hasn’t given birth yet. Later on Jonathan storms into the hospital, he sprints to the emergency ward, looks through the window and sees a baby drenched in blood, with eyes closed on a table next to the hospital bed, and on the bed was Sarah crying her eyes out. A doctor then exits the room and goes to speak to Jonathon. He explains to Jonathan how Sarah has lost the baby due to abuse from her boyfriend and that the baby has been dead for over 7 months now however Sarah was unaware as she didn’t make it to her regular scans. At that point an evil look appears on Jonathan’s face as he stares at the dead baby, he then punches the window and storms back out. He hunts Nicholas down, for a total of three days. Nicholas continually escapes from Jonathan, but eventually Nicholas is knocked out from a big battle they had in the middle of a football pitch. Jonathan picks him up and carries him on his back…

FLASHBACK TO START

Jonathan brings out a butcher knife and before Nicholas can ask any questions, Jonathan swiftly chops off Nicholas’ ear. Nicholas screams at the top of his voice for ages while the father laughs casually, while elsewhere Sarah hears the screaming and shouting. We then notice she is outside the building, she then enters the room where Nicholas is being held. Jonathan then tells Nicholas how he wants him to suffer more and exits the room.

Sarah enters the room and slaps him while he is still trying to recover from his ear being chopped off; she then kisses him on the forehead and starts to cut the rope, Nicholas repeatedly asks ‘why’ and Sarah repeatedly says ‘I’m still in love with you.’

Suddenly Jonathan returns…with a chainsaw! Sarah begs him not to kill Nicholas but it is clear that Jonathan is filled with rage. Sarah repeatedly asks ‘why are you doing this?’ Jonathan stops powering the chainsaw and explains how he really wanted a grandchild as his wife became infertile after Sarah was conceived but Sarah was unaware of this. He then goes on to say how his own mother was killed from abuse too as she was also pregnant but he managed to survive as she was nine months pregnant, and that Nicholas resembles Jonathon’s father. Nicholas attempts to apologise but is interrupted by the sound of the chainsaw, Nicholas dashes Sarah out of the way, then Jonathan repeatedly swings the chainsaw at him, but thanks to Nicholas’ fast reflexes he was able to dodge. Unfortunately Nicholas trips over the masking tape on the floor. Jonathan has him trapped; Nicholas is defenceless but seems ready to accept death. As Jonathan swings the chainsaw above his head to deliver the finishing blow, Sarah tries to jump on her fathers back and the chainsaw goes through the top of her head! She dies instantly. Jonathan falls to his knees and begins to shed tears. Nicholas looks shocked, and without hesitation makes a run for it, he manages to escape but because of the loss of his ear he fails to hear the sirens outside and so he runs straight into the police, they arrest him and the rest of the police head inside the building, they enter the room and all point their guns at Jonathan, he stands up powers the chainsaw and the film ends.
